The NSW skilled migration program for the 2024-25 program year has been announced. To meet the skills requirements of the state’s economy, NSW uses a selection-based invitation process.
Priority Sectors
The NSW state mentioned that they will prioritise some sectors to address the skills shortage and structural changes. The Priority Sectors are:-
- Construction (infrastructure and housing)
- Digital and Cyber (across all sectors)
- Renewables (net zero and clean energy)
- Education (teachers)
- Care Economy (aged care and disability services, early childhood education and care sectors)
- Agriculture and Agrifood
- Advanced Manufacturing.
Published Skills Lists
The state has published separate occupation lists for Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated visa) and Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional visa). The lists are provided at the ANZSCO unit group level, and occupations under the specified groups are eligible for state nomination applications. However, it’s important to make sure that the occupations are eligible for the appropriate visa classes, as per the Department of Home Affairs.
Invitations
The invitation rounds for the subclass 190 visa nomination will begin soon and will occur regularly till the end of the financial year 2024. For subclass 491, There are Pathway 1, Pathway 2, and Pathway 3 criteria for the nomination process. Pathway 3 is exclusively for recent graduates from select regional NSW institutions.
NSW Application Fee
The application fee has been increased for the NSW Skilled Migration Program 2024-25 and is now A$315, plus GST if applying from within Australia.
