Student Visa GTE Requirements

All applicants for a Student visa must show that they are coming to Australia temporarily to gain quality education. The Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement is not intended to exclude students who, after studying in Australia, develop skills Australia requires and then apply for permanent residence.

Ministerial Direction 69 sets out a number of factors which the Department of Home Affairs takes into account when determining if you meet the GTE requirements. Prospective student visa applicants often get their student visa refused for not meeting the GTE requirements.
